Leo Kloewers family of York, NE., spent from Friday until Sunday at his parents, Vince Kloewers. NISHNA VALLEY CLUB TO MEET The Nishna Valley Club will meet Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Violet Rasmussen's for their Christmas potluck dinner at 12:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day supper guests of LeRoy Palmers were Gary Palmers, Kristine and Jacob of Des Moines; Scott Palmer of Co. Bluffs and Violet Rasmussen. Tom Muhlbauers of Co. Bluffs were also visitors. The Golden Opportunity Club will hold their holiday dinner Dec. 7 at the Manilla Fireman's Hall at 12 noon. Vince Kloewers and Phil Gibbons and Shelia of Belle Plaines were Thanksgiving Day dinner guests of John Esdohrs family at Coon Rapids and supper guests at Merle Reinerts family at Carroll. Phil Gibbons and Shelia spent a few days with her par- ents, Vince Kloewers. Irene Backhaus and Ramona Boeck spent Thanksgiving Day at Ran Jacobsens in Harlan. Marie Dubrall and her sister, Bobbi Gretemann of Fremont, NE., were Thursday visitors of Irene Backhaus. Edna Mitzel accompanied by her sister, Bernice Crouch of Irwin were Thanksgiving Day dinner guests of Jim Goesers family at Harlan. Ralph Lampmans of Carroll; Alice Goeser of Omaha and John Goesers of Defiance were also visitors. Thanksgiving Day dinner guests at Ran Rasmussens were Cecel Maack and Violet Rasmussen. VISITED WITH GRANDPARENTS Bill Marnins and Emily of Rock Rapids were Sunday afternoon visitors of her grandparents, Vince Kloewers. Janet Dotzler of Defiance visited with her mother, Irene Backhaus, Sunday afternoon. LEFT FOR FREDRICKSBURG Scott DeLances and Shawn of Fredricksburg left Saturday after spending a week with her parents, Ralph Beams. Thanksgiving Day dinner guests of Ralph Beams were John Beams and Ronnie Beam of Dew City; Leland Larsons of Manning; Scott DeLances and Shawn, Rick Beams and boys and Kenny Bauers fam- ily. Ralph Beams accompanied Robert Phillips of Manning to Blair, NE., Sunday and spent the afternoon. Richard Hansons of Irwin and her mother, Ella McClatchey of Manilla; Amy Hanson and Barb Davis of Omaha; Wayne Dobsens of Bode left Wednesday and went to Ran Olsons family at DeWitt for Thanksgiving. They returned home Sunday aftemoon. A belated Thanksgiving supper was held at Clifford Joenses. Those present were Jeff Joens of Manila; Lyla Shepley Angle and Cory, Randy Hill and Jim O'Neil of Co. Bluffs. TWIN SONS BAPTIZED The twin sons of Trent Hodnes were baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday morning with Pastor Glenn Wiechmann, officiat- ing. Sponsors for Derek were Luana Doughty and Amy Hodne. Sponsors for Daniel were Amissa Hass and Linda Joslin. A dinner was held at Manilla Fireman's Hall for friends and relatives. Lyons, the son of William 0. and Rose Marie Kenkel Lyon, was born July 1, 1945, in Harlan. He attended school and grew to adulthood in Harlan. He entered the U.S. Navy on Sept. 7, 1966, where he served aboard the USS Rushmore. After receiving his honorable discharge on Oct. 10, 1971, he returned to Harlan where he was employed by the United Telephone Co. In 1973, he joined several other musicians to form a rock and roll band. They tried several names, but finally settled on the Great Impostors, and specialized in music of the fifty's and sixties. For the past 16 years this popular band played throughout the Midwest with Harry as- surning the position of bass guitarist. He continued to play with the band until just two weeks before his death. He married Barbara Newton on Dec. 20, 1965 in Portsmouth, OH., and one daughter, Michelle was born in 1%6. He was a member of the Harlan V.F.W., Post # 941. He died on Nov. 22, 1989 at the Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha, NE., at age 44 years, 4 months and 21 days. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to his wife, Barbara of Harlan, he is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Mrs Tom) Hill of Omaha, NE.; two brothers, William J. Lyon of Ames and Charles Lyon of Harlan; nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held Nov. 25, 1989 at Pauley Funeral Home, Harlan, with Pastor Donald Schoepf of First Christian Church in Harlan, offi- ciating. Burial was in Harlan cemetery with Bob Fields, Ken Malone, Jent Worley, Dick Munson, Keith Kaufman and D.A. (Dinger) Thraen serving as casketbearers. John Eugene Butler, 89 JEFFERSON - John Eugene Butler, son of Benjamin Eugene and Edna Enola Lizer Butler was born July 13, 1900 in Scranton, and died Nov. 19, 1989 at his home in Jefferson, at age 89 years, 4 months and 6 days. He attended the Scranton Schools. He then farmed for awhile. On June 25, 1923, he married Sarah Jane Quirk at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson. They were the parents of Cyril, Mary Louise and Margaret Ann. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. His favorite past- time was fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Louise; sister, Laura; brothers, Harry and Seth. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; one son, Cyril of Hadan; one daughter, Margaret Ann (Bobl Reinsch of Fremont, NE.; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and other relatives. Funeral Mass was held Nov. 22, 1989 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Jefferson, with Rev. Roger J. Linnan as celebrant.
