Ryan Burchett and Ryan Lawson received superior rat- ings in the piano solo divi- sion. Shelby Rosmann re- ceived a superior plus rating for a piano solo. Parents of the students are Richard and Cindy Burchett, Steve and Dianne Lawson and Michael and Marilyn Ros- mann. MR AND MRS KEVIN ZIMMERMAN groom, Omaha. Cake was made by Cleo Lefeber and served by Audry Smith, aunt of groom, Plattesmouth, NE., and Cheryl Moore, aunt of bride, Cedar Rapids. The flowers were done by the bride. After a wedding trip to Col- orado, the couple is at home in Shelby. Irene Buckley's students perform at festival Several students from the Harlan area received ratings at the Tri-County Music Festival held at HCHS last Saturday. Results of Irene Buckley's students have been released. Tracie Schaer received a supe- rior plus rating. Superior ratings were awarded to Jesse Arkfeld, Mindy Buck, Kevin Buckley, Trisha Buckley, Jerry Buman, Brandy Chamberlain, Katie Dotzler, Carmen Ickes, Jesse Jans, Krista Mathis, Megan Murphy, Angela Ouren, Kara Quinn and Mark Smith. Tricia Brinker received a su- perior minus rating while Er- ica Jans was awarded an excel- lent rating. Earnin$ trophies for three conseeuuve superior ratings were Jesse Arkfeld, Brandy Chamberlain and Mark Smith. Hostesses were Leann Leinen, Arlene Gustafson, Mrs Donald Dahlof, Mrs John V. Anderson, Mrs Allyn Bar- telson, Mrs Steve Gawley and Mrs LaVerne Steenhusen. The uests registered their names m an Irwin centennial cookbook. Decorations were carried out in the bride's cho- sen colors of blue and pink. A house planter decorated the gift table and held the bows. Robin is the daughter of former Irwin residents Mr and Mrs Duane Cato of Harlan. She is a student at Iowa State University. Robin will become the bride of Randy Crawford on June 3 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Ames. VERONICA SCHULTE Veronica Schulte to celebrate 85th birthday Veronica (Albers) Schulte, a resident at the OEA Manor in Omaha, will celebrate her 85th birthday on April 6. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will host an open house from 2-4 p.m. on April 2 at the St. Boniface Parish Center base- ment in Westphalia. Veronica had been a resident of Shelby County until the fall of 1987. She has a daugh- ter, Mrs Leonard (Mary Ellen) Keating Jr., of Charter Oak, two sons, Francis of Omaha and Harold of Westphalia. Mrs Schulte has 16 grand- children, 10 step granchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Her address is OEA Manor, Room 704, 320 N. 22nd St., Omaha, NE., 68102. The family requests no gifts. Area Girls Scouts practice for flag ceremony The Harlan area Girl Scouts had their annual open house and potluck for their families last Monday night at St. Michael's Rosman-Parish Center. Each troop performed a skit and displays were set up of various troop activities.
