Students from grades six through eight will participate. The sixth graders will give a patriotic musical review ti- fled, "My Country." Klein injured when battery explodes in face Sylvan Klein is in Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs re- ceiving treatment for his eyes that were severely injured when a newly charged battery blew up in his face Tuesday morning at his farm east of Harlan. Klein had charged the battery overnight. He was in the act of hooking it up to an electric fence when a spark ignited bat- tery fumes causing the battery to explode. One eye was badly injured and the other eye par- tially. Little change in HCHS budget hearing is Monday, March 13 Monday, March 13 has been set as the public hearing for the coming 1989-1990 budget of the Harlan Com- munity school district at the high school at 8 p.m. The budget calls for $6,366,439 expenditures com- pared to this year's total of $6,197,114. Total rev- enues are estimated at $6,491,411 compared to $6,072,837. State foundation aid is calculated at $2,981,525 compared to $2,597,064. The amount of money to be raised via taxes is esti- mated at $2,789,370 compared to $2,597,064. The tax levy is set a $10.82599 compared to $10.09320 presently per $1,000 of valuation. A complete detailed budget appears as a public notice in this issue.
